About

EDIT NOTE I am being flooded with spam, so if you reach out please try to sound fairly human or I will likely end up assuming you are also spam. This Bradley GT I kit car was assembled in 1973 on what I was told was a 1969 Volkswagen Beetle convertible chassis claimed Super Beetle, but I am hearing that it couldnt be, so perhaps it was incorrectly assumed, being convertible. I am the third owner and I purchased it in 2010, when it was working great and was even in a couple smalltown parades. It did develop some odd issues and due to changing life circumstances I have not been able to work on it, so it has been more or less sitting for most of the last ten years and I would like it to go to someone who would be able to enjoy it. Being a kit it has a number of little unique quirks. The original paintjob was copper fleck gel coat, but had been mostly painted over with the current darker red color that showed up in a lot of the original advertising. There are a few little places you can see the original coat, the big ones being the part of the door inside the gull-wings where you might rest an arm, as you can see in the first interior shot. The original owner put more modern mirrors on it you can see them separately in a later photo and the second owner then located the bullet mirrors that classically go with them, so there are the screw holes in the fiberglass from the different position they were in. One of the bullet mirrors became loose so I removed it, the other unfortunately someone banged into at some point and is now cracked. An odd issue it may have had the whole time but I did not initially notice when the gas is lower it becomes increasingly difficult to shift, some linkage must be tied. The last time I moved it the brakes were not reliable so I had to utilize the emergency brake. At some point the speedometer stopped working, but I did purchase replacement gauges, pictured, though I never installed them. The odometer may have become unreliable at the same point, so I am conservatively saying it is at 23,000 miles the guy I bought it from was driving it regularly. The wheels are large enough compared to the small frame that on a tight turn the tires can touch the wheel wells. It has the two removable gull-wings doors and removable rear window to utilize the rear bench no seatbelts, and the doors can be locked. The electric fold-down headlight covers work, all the lights work and there isnt anything wrong with the engine, transmission etc. that I am aware of. I think perhaps the previous owner was trying to figure out how to add air-conditioning, but it does not have AC, my biggest qualm when I got it but the norm for these. These are very small, light cars, I think maybe only around 1600 lbs so it is easy to push around and they sit low. Most mechanical specs would come from the 69 Beetle, it is four-speed manual transmission and takes regular gasoline I would always add lead substitute.Clean title, keys for ignition and doors.
