About

I have a 97 Ford Ranger 5 speed manual, with tool box topper. Rear wheel drive. It has around 210,000 miles on it. Starts and runs good, but the 1st and 2nd gear sync rows are out in the transmission.. So the truck will need to be trailered. Also the clutch is out combination of the clutch out and someone else driving it for one day, caused the sync rows to grind out of 1st and 2nd gear still goes into reverse and has 3rd-5th. So needless to say, you will need a new transmission and to replace the clutch while youre in there.. I do have the new clutch for it and that will go with the truck. The other issues are the exhaust. The catalytic converter is shot and disconnected from the back section of pipe and muffler which is still there, so its loud as is. You will also probably need to replace both up and downstream o2 sensors before and after the cat, because it throws a check engine. Other than that, it has a crack in the windshield. honestly I can just get it into 1st gear to be able to pull onto a trailer, if need be. The truck ran and still runs good. I drove it for 6 months with the clutch going out, and I had a particular way of operating it so I never damaged the trans.. I was going to get to replacing the clutch, But my friend had to use it one night for work, and couldnt quite get it through the gears, so he wound up grinding the sync rows out of 1st and 2nd, by the time he got home. Its sat here since last fall. The good is that I have recently put in new plugs and wires, also has a cold air intake.
