About

I bought this van to convert into an off road expedition cing rig but have ran out of time for this project. Currently the mods on this van are as follows.1 Has a 3in lift kit from Journey Off Roads Specifically made for this van,2 large tires for off road or snowice driving,3 Along with these other mods we also put on a hidden winch under the front bumper,4 Tow hitch for small trailers or vehicle rescue,5 Most importantly a true 4WD mod that allows you to shift between 2WD and 4WD Only other 4WD vans on the market are Mercedes SprintersHistoryI bought this van from a couple in Ashville who where moving to NYC and didnt have space for a van in the city. They used it as a daily driver and I have used it for the occasional adventure into Pisgah Forest but mostly unused. They told me the transmission was just fully rebuilt at 125,000 miles so you should be good to go for a while. Known issues1 Driver side door leeks slightly This is why the bottom half of the door panel is removed so water can drain,2 Belt Squeaks on occasion,3 Expected aesthetical issues from a nearly 20 year old vehicle,4 Some rust also what you would expect from an old vehicle,5 Small bubble in top of steering due to lift kit,Cer Van Buildout ProgressFront seats both driver and passenger have been switched with captain chairs for maximum comfort For only about $80 you can install a swivel seat on them which would be a game changer I have already insulated the walls and celling with a combo of foam and reflectx. Also used commercial grade duct tape to try and seal any air pockets to the best of my ability. The floor is also completely finished with insulation and thick high quality flooring. I have more foam and several bamboo plywood sheets to be used as ceiling and wall paneling that will come with the van. Now all it needs is someone who is stoked to build out a sick adventure van or put it too work as a really cool work van. More GMC Safari specs Chevy Astro vans and GMC Safari vans are exactly the same except for the brand. AWD Astro Vans are the only van on the market other than Chevy Explorer or Mercedes Sprinter that have AWD or 4WD making them a rare luxury. This one goes a step beyond the typical AWD Astro by using a custom 4WD mod that allows switching between 2WD and 4WD. Safari vans also use a timing chain instead of a timing belt which means you never have to worry about replacing timing belt. Production of the Safari Vans stopped in 2005 so this is the most modern version you will find. Also with the rebuilt transmission you have plenty of life left in this van.I have some other goodies that I can throw in to sweeten the pot if paying asking price or close too.
