I have what I believe to be a 1947 Ford 1 ton or 1 12 ton military truck. It has been on a ranch for decades. The owner just passed away recently. He bought it at a military auction. It appears to be military colors and has military stars on the mud flaps. It is not currently running, but I was told that it ran when parked. It seems complete. Truck rolls easily and the engine turns freely by hand.The engine is a flat head 6 with a manual trans. It has a vacuum tank so I think it has vacuum assist breaks or shifting. It may have a 2 speed rear axle. I will have to investigate further.The body does have some rust in the rear cab corners and the bottom of the doors. Its kinda banged up, but has plenty of character. My idea for the old gal was to be used for advertising. I buy houses and have signs on many of my vehicles that I drive. I was going to place signs on both sides of the tank on the back of the truck and park it on a friends property near the freeway. The county shut us down by denying permission to park it where I wanted as planned. Now, unless I find another place to display it right away, I need to sell it.We believe this truck to have just over 30,000 original miles as it had very low miles when purchased from the military and then spent the next chapter of its life on the ranch as a water truck.Some of the tires hold air, but they are all pretty well shot. The title has been missing for decades. Sold on a bill of sale. DMV will issue a new title. They will request to see the truck to verify that it exists then probably ask for it to be weighed also. Once that is done they issue a new title. There are no back fees due. The truck does not appear in the DMV system any longer.It doesnt necessarily have to be a sign. It would be really cool fixed up and back in action. The tank in the back is attached with chains and easily removed. Asking $2500I also have a 1978 Ford Fairmont Wagon with a small block V8 and automatic trans that I thought about transplanting into the truck. I did that once before, but the rear end is very low geared and it didnt go very fast. I am asking $850 for the Fairmont. It runs as long as I feed gas into the injectors. It probably needs a fuel pump. Title is lost, but I have replacement paperwork from the DMV. The body has some rust as it spent its life in Lompoc.
